Literature Text

Everything is made to be broken,
We should’ve known this from the start.
I can tell you that this statement is true,
Only this morning, I lost my heart.

And now this vital organ of mine,
Has suddenly ceased to be,
I can feel other things starting to fail,
Crumbling inside of me.

Second to go was my liver,
I no longer have that any more.
Now my fingers are slowly dying,
My nose just hit the floor.

My arms have dislocated themselves,
My spine ripped open my skin.
And as my lungs slowly collapse,
My thoughts turn to her again.

Eyes rolled back in their sockets,
Mind slowly shuts down.
Face distorted, unbeknownst,
A crooked and silent frown.

Because everything is made to be broken,
And we have known this from the start.
Unfortunately, you were too blind to see,
That in my case, ‘everything’ is my heart.
